This mala features beads made from wood gathered in the mountains of Wutai Shan, the worldly abode of the bodhisattva of wisdom, Manjushri, located in Shanxi Province, China. Wutai Shan is one of the four great Buddhist mountains of China. The trees that grow there are sparse and the wood is difficult to obtain.

The mala has 108 beads and is strung on a stretch cord.
