Red Tara meditations have been used for centuries in many lineages of Tibetan Buddhism to attain the recognition of our original pure nature. Red Tara is a peaceful form of the subjugating goddess Kurukulle and is associated with enlightened speech and the transformation of desire into wisdom.
This practice lineage was revealed as a terma by Apong Terton and later transmitted to Chagdud Tulku Rinpoche, who introduced it to students in the West. The full cycle includes foundational practices, generation and completion stages, dream yoga, and teachings on the nature of mind.
Red Tara appears youthful and radiant, seated in royal ease on a lotus. With three eyes, she holds a long-life vase and utpala flower bearing a bow and arrow, symbolizing her swift, compassionate action.
This thangka is framed in traditional Tibetan silk brocade and includes a curtain to keep it protected when not displayed.
