Red Coral Phurba Pendant

$120.00
Regular price $120.00

This pendant takes the form of a phurba, the ritual dagger used to cut through obstacles and negativity. Its three-sided blade represents the transformation of ignorance, desire, and aversion into wisdom.

Made in Bhutan with red coral and gold detail. In Tibetan tradition, coral (byu ru) is one of the sacred organic jewels, described as the aquatic correlate of gold. It symbolizes the sun, the solar channel, and the red aspect of bodhichitta.

Red branch coral, which often grows in tree-like formations, is regarded as the most sacred and precious form of coral by Tibetans. It was historically imported into Tibet from India, China, Russia, Japan, and as far as the Italian Adriatic Sea, and fashioned into beads, ornaments, and offerings.
