This lovely brocade mat is used to place your dorje (vajra) and bell during prayer ceremonies and individual meditation practices, or on one's shrine. The mat is made from traditional Tibetan style brocade, with endless knots in the center ~ it was handmade in Kathmandu, Nepal by local artisans.
The endless knot is symbolic of Buddha's mind, representing endless wisdom and compassion; reminiscent of the cyclic reality of existence.
The dorje symbolizes the male principle, representing method (compassion), and is held in the right hand. The bell symbolizes the female principle, representing wisdom (emptiness), and is held in the left hand.
The mat measures 7.5" deep x 13.75" long (medium-sized).
