Chenrezig (Sanskrit: Avalokiteshvara) is the bodhisattva that embodies the compassion of all Buddhas. In his four-armed form he holds a mala, a blooming lotus, and a wish-fulfilling jewel. These are expressions of the four immeasurable qualities: equanimity, joy, love and compassion.
This statue was hand-crafted in Patan, Nepal, an area with an ancient history of fine-craft statue making, and made of copper and silver.
