Journey to the Realms Beyond Death

By Delog Dawa Drolma

Translated by Lama Chökyi Nyima (Richard Barron)
Foreword by Chagdud Tulku Rinpoche

Delog Dawa Drolma, a Vajrayana lama and the mother of Chagdud Tulku Rinpoche, recounts a five-day journey through the bardo and pure realms. In the Tibetan tradition, a delog is someone who returns from death and describes what they experienced.

Her account explores karmic consequences, suffering and compassion through encounters in these realms. Translated into English by Richard Barron, it brings readers into a distinctive form of Buddhist spiritual autobiography.

For Chagdud Tulku Rinpoche’s memories of his mother and his own life, see Lord of the Dance.
